  • Do you take insurance?
    Dr. Jen is an out-of-network provider. Ask your insurance provider whether you can submit receipts for direct reimbursement. Health Savings Accounts are accepted. Medicare and Medi-Cal recipients may be seen for fitness and wellness services.
  • What should I expect for physical therapy?
    Comprehensive evaluations include a review of your personal health, and a detailed analysis of posture, gait, balance, musculoskeletal and neurological systems. Goals and a health plan are then determined. Follow-up treatments are scheduled based on your needs. Evaluations are typically 1.5-2 hours. Follow-up Treatments are usually one hour and may take place at your home, office, gym, or in public spaces. These evidence-based treatments may include the following: instruction in targeted exercises, correction of gait and posture, recommendations for environmental modifications, manual therapeutic techniques, massage, ergonomics, home safety assessment, in-store footwear assessment, caregiver training, fall prevention, and more. Aquatic treatments available in Santa Cruz. For optimal results, patients and clients are expected to follow through with Dr. Jen’s recommendations.
  • Do I need a doctor's prescription for physical therapy?
    By utilizing California's direct access to physical therapy, you may begin treatment right away. If you already have a medical diagnosis for your condition, or are interested in prevention or wellness training, you do not need prescription. If you are experiencing a new condition, you will need to a physician's prescription to continue treatments beyond twelve visits, or six weeks, whichever comes first.
  • What should I expect for fitness and wellness training?
    Fitness clients will discuss health history and goals before receiving instruction in a personalized fitness plan based on your individual needs. Private and small group fitness classes are usually one hour. Aquatic fitness classes available in San Jose and Santa Cruz. For optimal results, patients and clients are expected to follow through with Dr. Jen’s recommendations.
  • Do I have to know how to swim for aquatic therapy or fitness?
    No. Dr. Jen will teach you how to get a full workout while keeping you comfortable and safe. Floatation devices are available if needed. When scheduling your appointment, ask Dr. Jen whether lifeguards will be present at the pool.
